From the base camp in Guam, we would fly from country to country for six months to nine months at a time, with short vacations in between.
We lived in tankers and on offshore oil rigs.
When the journey began, there were no smartphones, and we had only a few dozen staff members, so we felt extremely isolated.
But even so, the underwater base was gradually nearing completion, and the pipelines connecting the countries were steadily increasing.
It was very fun and comfortable to be a part of that process.
The members and backup staff changed every time.
A forest of people was being created. Each encounter led to the next job.
