The wide aisles of Whole Foods Market,
Our cart filled with fresh vegetables, freshly baked bread,
Sweet fruits, and wine for tonight.
He laughs as he picks out coconut oil,
I quietly watch, wishing to capture this little moment
And keep it forever.
On the way home, bathed in the western sunlight pouring through the window,
We laughed softly, sharing a quiet joy.
In the kitchen,
He walked out to the backyard,
Reaching up to the tall tree,
Gently picking a single lemon.
That lemon,
Made our night just a little sweeter,
And just a little more sour.
The scent of that lemon,
Still unexpectedly touches my heart.
